YouFra – A Franciscan Journey

A new Franciscan experience!

YouFra (Franciscan Youth) has existed for more than 40 years in other countries (Italy, Spain, Latin America) and now, for the first time, in collaboration with Trinity Catholic High School, we welcome YouFra to our Parish community.

“And the Lord gave me brothers!”

Even after 800 years, people are still inspired to follow St Francis; his love for the Incarnate Jesus, his affinity with all creation, Brother Sun, Sister Moon, his passion for life and his fraternal care for his brothers and sisters, especially the poor and the sick. All Francis’ choices were inspired by Brother Christ who gave His life that we may have life.

YouFra is a journey of Franciscan Spirituality for young people attracted by the life of St Francis of Assisi and who seek to deepen their life with God, their understanding of self, of others and the exceptional beauty of creation.

At our weekly gatherings in the School Chapel we:

  • Share the experience of Christian life in fraternity
  • Reflect upon the life of Francis and Jesus
  • Pray together
  • Discuss what is important in our lives and where God calls us
  • Have fun
  • Aim to share our experience by our local mission

Forty five young people have committed themselves to the YouFra experience and have made their promise to follow their law:

 

The Law of the “Juniors” is this:

I am on the way to discovering God my Father
with the help of Jesus Christ who reveals the
Father to my in his Gospel.

I want to welcome and to use all the gifts that God,
the Lord of my life, gives me (the Word,
Sacraments, prayer; relations with others,
with Creation, with God).

I put all my commitment into overcoming my
selfishness and in being simple and humble,
generous with others and welcoming them,
respecting my home which is Creation and
my body which God has given me.

I seek every day to do something good for others
and with others, even if they do not ask me to do so.

I am always loyal and truthful with myself and
with everyone so as to merit their trust.
