The annual pre-Christmas Golf Day was held on Friday 18th November at Chigwell Golf Club. Fifty-one people played – forty gentlemen and eleven ladies teeing off in sparkling winter weather under a cloudless blue sky (maybe a bit of divine intervention there!) As usual, the course looked wonderful, especially with a covering of heavy frost.
The balls bounced along nicely on the frozen fairways (!) and putting was quite interesting until the frost melted. However, all were dressed accordingly and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of playing on such a lovely course and in such perfect winter weather.
In the evening, seventy people sat down to a delicious festive meal (turkey with all the trimmings). The usual raffle took place, the prizes generously donated by many of the participants, and after much fun and laughter, it was off to the car park to scrape the ice off the cars! As always, a thoroughly enjoyable parish event.
