15th Woodford Guides and Ranger Disney land Paris

20th January to 22nd January 2006

I would like to start by thanking the parish for all their help. Thanks to them the raffle was a big success and enabled us to surprise the girls to a trip to the Eiffel Tower.

For 18 months the Parish Guides and Rangers have been planning a trip to Disney Land Paris, on the Friday the 20th of January all the planning ended and it was time to enjoy all the hard work. This was not your normal trip to Disney as girls and leaders included 50 people went.

For the trip the girls had to be up very early as they were meeting at the church at 6.30-6.45. By 7.15 every one was ready to go.

As soon as we set off we realized that we had a very good coach driver, this made the trip go relevantly easy. However we were disappointed with the information given to us by adventures abroad as they said the coach would have a video player so we only had videos with us. As it turned out the coach only had a DVD player. Luckily the driver had his own DVD’s for such cases.

We stayed at The Davey Crocket Ranch. The first night of the trip consisted of a lovely meal followed by a swim. They loved the slides and a chance to release their energy after being cooped up on a coach all day.

After breakfast we met to go to the park. When we got there the groups went their separate ways, not to meet up again till 5.15 for dinner in Planet Hollywood. By all accounts every group had a great day and did all the rides they wanted to. The rangers all went off together and loved all the fast rides. Dinner in Planet Hollywood was great and after dinner they were strait back into the park for the last rides and shopping. By the end of the day they were exhausted and it didn’t take long for any of them to fall asleep.

On Sunday the driver took us round the city telling us about the different building, as some of the girls had never been to Paris they enjoyed this experience. We finished the tour with a visit to the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. As we didn’t want to miss mass the travel company arranged this for us to go to La Madeleine Catholic Church. It was a beautiful church with no windows. The service was in French but it was strange how during you could tell what was going on. They priest asked us where we came from and who we were, and also asked for one of the girls to say a bidding prayer. Luckily one of our rangers is a reader at 10o’clock mass and was happy to do this. Back on the coach for a little drive and lunch we stopped in a service station. Where I was really able to take in how much all the girls had enjoyed it

Although relieved to be home, now I can’t wait to do it again and neither can the girls.
